Random ...

Some random little tid bits ... :

1. I always decorate for Christmas on Thanksgiving weekend.

2. I don't understand why people make such a fuss over Halloween and Thanksgiving if they're not American. It doesn't have any significance other than having another reason to be cool and celebrate like an American. I don't have a thing against the lovely Americans, but I don't believe in 'posing'.

3. I love flying. Long - haul, short - haul ... it really doesn't matter. I think I'm like the dream passenger ... ha ha ... I'm polite, I don't ask for much except for loads of water and occasionally a blanket.

4. I love my little World of Warcraft toys and figurines and want to collect more, if they weren't so damned expensive.

5. I feel extremely uncomfortable wearing branded stuff i.e. watches, clothes, wallets, shoes etc. I think my family can attest to that LOL. That doesn't mean however, that I don't appreciate the value in them. :) I do, and thank you to all who have ... given me 'stuff'. :) he he.

6. Some of my fave food: Mom's cooking, dim sum, roti canai with dhall, my cooking, nigella's cooking ... :D

My favorite time of year ...

... is coming around again soon. I don't think that there's ever been a more magical, loving, ooey-gooey, iloveeveryonearoundmeincludingyou kinda feeling like Christmas. This year I get to spend Christmas with 2 of the stars of my tattoo (for those who haven't a clue, I've got a beautiful tattoo, but there are 8 stars surrounding the tattoo, which represent VVVVVIPs in my life) and I couldn't be more psyched about it! :) :) :)

The irony of it is that I will be spending Christmas itself in Sin City i.e. Las Vegas! Ha ha ... how comical indeed. Mom's already scoping out churches to go to on Christmas morning. Hopefully service isn't ... dry and dreary like most services in Church usually are. I'm not against the Church or anything like that ok ... for you SFX people ... there hasn't been quite a replacement for an engaging Pastor ever since Pastor J left ok? And that was WAYYYYYYY back when I was an altar boy. ;) *stop laughing you*.

Anyways, it's my fave time of year, it's 3 months away and I'm excited. It's my blog and I'll talk about it if I want to! :) ha ha ha Merry Christmas all! :)

She's done it again!

One of the few women who rule supreme in my heart (*ahem*) is undoubtedly the Queen of Giving and Generosity, Oprah Winfrey. She launched a reality series recently dubbed "Oprah's Big Give". Unlike other reality TV shows where the participants are vying for some sort of prize, these participants are 'duped' into believing that their ultimate prize is one of helping spread joy, making dreams come true etc ... the twist is ... the Queen will reward the last standing Good Samaritan with USD1 million.

With this in mind, that they have nothing really personal to gain i.e. monetary rewards etc, I was really touched by all the goodness that went on and how each and everyone worked hard and tirelessly to make other peoples', who are less fortunate, come true. It could be some new furniture, or a college tuition funding etc ... gosh! All this goodness is going to be great for America ... who's fast becoming a little apathetic and insensitive to a lot that goes on. However, that is a general statement, because there are loads of you who DO care ... and that's great.

I love Oprah even more for spreading this goodness and goodwill and all with her money. How amazing is that?

On last weekend's (it runs on the Hallmark Channel 792 on Astro @ 8:00pm, so set your Astro Max people!) episode, the remaining 8 people were divided in 2 groups and each was given 1 celebrity to help with the dreams of 2 different people whose dreams were not their own, but for the children that they care for. There has got to be no nobler profession than that of a teacher.

In Field of Dreams: one teacher was wanting a new children't playground for her school, because what they had was a miserable gravel patch with 2 broken basketball poles for a basketball court. It was depressing to know that 150 kids didn't have much more than a pole to play with.

The other teacher's project was titled a Forgotten Christmas as these 150 kids as well were from the hardcore poor in Houston and didn't have bubkus much less a present on Christmas day and the 4 on this team were tasked with hosting and planning a Christmas that the kids won't soon forget.

Oh ... it was brilliant. And the one person whose attitude just so needed checking at the door was Ms. Rachael Hollingsworth. Oh, this lady was all about her EGO. I could not stand this woman in the 2 episodes that I watched. I hope it gets better. It's about giving back to people Rachael! Not about showcasing yourself! You're gorgeous and talented already! We don't need you shoving it in our face. ;) We ain't blind gurl! :)

So when you subscribe to the magazine, you get the item on the left free! And she gave it to me!!! It's a great thing to receive something that you were not expecting SO early in the morning too. Thanks Val!
